An Unlikely Calling
I may be a realtor, but I was a For Sale By Owner seller before becoming an agent! During a 20+ year US Air Force career, my wife and I bought a house with almost every assignment–8 houses! This means when we left for a new location, we had a house to sell, didn’t we? I wish I could say we were a huge success, but the truth is we didn’t know what we were doing when we started, and it probably cost us thousands of dollars and hours upon hours wasted with each sale!
Since becoming a realtor, I can understand why it was so hard for us to sell our houses on our own. Realtors have proprietary systems and networks that essentially allow them to own the real estate marketplace. Make no mistake, this is an exclusive club, and the door is closed to the average homeowner.
But here’s what I discovered…
Although realtors have a system, most of them don’t have the knowledge and practical experience in marketing and merchandising real estate. If we had known then what we know now, we could’ve flipped the script on selling solo. Now, we’re helping For Sale By Owner sellers do just that!
